The association of the bank with HD ensures finance in case you wish to purchase a Harley or set-up a Harley showroom in India. ICICI will offer loans for upto five years at an interest rate of 11 per cent for buying the bikes. The lowest calculated EMI for a Harley is Rs 12845 for the 2010 HD XL883 Low Sportster, and goes up for other models.

More Than 15,740 Social Media Experts on Twitter

Social media is growing fast, but how fast? Using Tweepsearch to search bios on Twitter profiles, blogger B. L. Ochman found there were 4,487 social media experts in May 2009. Today there are 15,740.

The stats, which include variations like social media- “guru”, “ninja” and “superstar,” show that “marketer” is by far the most-used name.

There’s amusement to be found in the numbers, too: The blog Broadstuff points out that “This represents a 3.5x increase every six months. Projecting this growth forward means that there will be nearly 30m social media experts etc on Twitter by this time in 2012.”

"Googlle" opens a school in India

That’s right, “Googlle”—some company in Bhubaneswar about one L better than tech giant Google—has opened a school in India, offering GCPA degrees (Googlle Certified Professional In Advanced Computing) and GCPE degrees (Googlle Certified Professional in E-commerce). Tech reporter MG Siegler does some digging on the “Googlle Insitute of Software Studies,” a (painful) rip off of Google branding trying to lure in innocent, naive folks with finger ticks. Googlle (how do you even say that?) is actually a division of C.B.Online pvt. ltd, an “Online Software Solution Provider” in India whose cafeteria is of dubious extravagance.

Hopefully the poor construction of the Googlle Web site will dissuade people from throwing away their money. But then again, if someone is fooled by “Googlle,” who knows what will slip past their radars? As of Saturday night, the Googlle Institute’s site is reporting exceeded bandwith limit—which probably means we’re all rushing in for our Googlle degrees! Or people are visiting for a few tickles.

We have a conclusion to all this controversy. Chetan has Posted a new blog in which he says :

" When you are saying ‘based on a novel by’ in a movie, you cannot have a separate original Story credit in the film "

" While they did fulfill the ‘based on the novel by’ credit as per contract, by claiming the story as original and claiming it as theirs alone "

" To the extent they have done this, all I merely ask is put my name as one of the writers in the ‘Story’ credit. They can keep their names above me, and make me the third writer of the story. The screenplay is theirs anyway. "

The Big Bad Wordpress Problem

Ok. I did Screw Up with wordpress today.

I tried to try my hands under the General Settings Pannel and SNAP.. Things Went Crazy..

SO this is What Happened.

THE PROBLEM ( Scare )

1. I went to the General Settings Pannel

2. I changed the WordPress address (URL) to http://saurabhgoswami.wordpress.com ( Thinking i would link my wordpress site to my Domain.

3. & I Saved It..

This Was the Big Shock. I Realised that when i tried to goto the Admin Pannel it redirects it to http://saurabhgoswami.wordpress.com/wp-admin

To my horror i could not make any changes anymore to the themes etc. & my blog went crazyyyy & Me tooo..

THE SOLUTON

1. Looked into options-general.php for something but did not find anything

2. Then i was more scared & called for help to my friend Swapnil.

3. The Solution Worked... Yipeee...

Just Goto The Database and change it.

In the end i learnt. " Coding is Portey " ( If you are a poet )

Else Stay away from Experimenting.

However.. U get to Lean from your mistakes

Choosing the Domain Name for your Blog

Last night my wife came home with a book and started a conversation on a topic which I’d been dreading a little since the time we first found out that we were expecting a baby later in the year. The book was called something along the line of ‘Names for your Baby’.

The thought of giving another human being a name is a task that can be fun but at the same time a little (or a lot) daunting. There are many factors to consider (what could the name be shortened to, who else has that name, what memories does it evoke, is it easy for a child to say, should you name them after someone, etc etc etc) and so many ways to make the decision. What’s more, it’s a task that has some level of responsibility attached to it as a person’s name is something that has an impact upon them for a lifetime.

<sarcasm>Choosing a name (and domain name) for your blog might not be quite as important a decision as naming your firstborn child </sarcasm> but it is something to consider carefully and is therefore something I’d like to flesh out a little in this post.

For the purposes of this post I’m assuming that you have chosen to go with a stand alone blog and will not be relying upon a URL supplied by a blog hosting company AND that your domain name will be the name of your blog (not always the case but usually the case and usually a recommended practice).

This post talks readers through some of the issues that they need to think through regarding choosing a blog platform.

‘Which Blog Platform Should I use?’
‘Should I use a free Blogger.com blog or get my own hosted blog on my own Domain? Which Blog Platform is best?’
‘What are the Pros and Cons of going with Typepad instead of WordPress as a blog platform?’
‘Should I start out on a free Blogging Platform and Upgrade later?’

These are just some of the typical questions that I get asked each day from bloggers starting out and attempting to make a decision on which blogging platform or tool they should choose.

I’m not going to tell you which blog platform you should use because, as you will see, there are good reasons for choosing most of the available platforms depending upon the goals of your blog.

In fact as I look at some of the most successful blogs there are examples of most of the platforms mentioned in this post – that’s the great thing about blogging, success is not reliant upon the tool you use – it’s about how you use it!

What follows is my attempt to flesh out some of the factors a new bloggers might like to consider in deciding on a blog platform. It is probably impacted by own experience of blogging over the last three years and the preferences I’ve accumulated in this time. I invite readers to add to this post in comments below with their own ideas and experiences so we can have a more balanced and useful collection of tips for readers considering such a choice.

Is a Blog the Right type of Web Site for you?

While I’m a big fan of blogging as a way to get content online – I’ve seen it built up by some bloggers over the years as being the ultimate way of having a web presence.

In my opinion this is just not true.

While Blogs are great (in my experience) they are not the ultimate type of website. They do not have all of the answers and they do not suit every application or situation.

It may be that after analysing your needs, personality, hopes, experiences and style that you find blogging does fit well for your purposes – but it may also be other web applications fit better with where you’re at. Don’t just rush into blogging and expect the world.

There are probably other people who are much better at selling you some of the other types of web applications out there (look into wikis, static websites, forums etc) so I’ll leave you to do your own research – but here is a list of 23 questions (written in no particular order except that it is the order they came out of my head in) that you might want to ponder before leaping into blogging. I’ve put a few brief comments next to each to get you going.

Please note that these questions are in essence a list of qualities of successful bloggers that I’ve come across over the last few years. If you don’t have some of these qualities it’s not the end of your blogging dreams. The list is idealistic and the questions are there to help potential bloggers enter into blogging with open eyes and making good decisions about whether a blog is right for them. It also might help potential bloggers to think about what type of blog they might start and what type of skills they might need to develop:

So what is a Blog anyway?

It’s a good question to ask at the beginning of a Blogging for Beginners Series as it is a question I am asked every week.

There are a number of ways I could answer this question ranging from the broad to the highly technical.

Here are a few definitions from other much wiser people on the ‘what is a blog?’ question to get us started (and once you’ve seen what they have to say on the topic I’ll share my own thoughts):

‘A weblog is a hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser.’ Source

‘From “Web log.” A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.”‘ Source

The Dog is wonderful. This was the first time i had seen a dog so faithful & Balanced. In the beginning i thought that the dog will jump from a ring, stand on 2 legs and dance. I was amazed to see that he balanced his 4 legs on a small can with 5cm radius.

Simply Amazing !!

Increasingly, computers are expected to be useful tools in our children's education. But today, most children whose education involves computers are being taught to use one company's product: Microsoft's

The education of children represents a major revenue stream for Microsoft, and a strategic opportunity to embed their products into the lives of future adults. By enticing schools to teach their students using Windows and associated software, Microsoft can also make parents feel obliged to provide the same software at home. Where else do we see one corporation able to put their marketing and corporate branded materials in front of children as requirements in this way?

Many US states even boast about how they are cooperating with Microsoft, either ignoring or not understanding the corrupting influence that accepting freebies from this huge corporation has on their government. Because Microsoft's software is proprietary, it is incompatible with education — users are simply passive consumers in their interactions with Windows, they are legally forbidden from adapting the software to solve a particular problem, or from satisfying an intellectual curiosity by examining its source code. An education using the power of computers should be a means to freedom and empowerment, not an avenue for one corporation to instill its monopoly through indoctrination.

Free software, on the other hand, gives children a route to empowerment, by encouraging them to explore and learn. Nowhere was the promise of an educational platform using free software more significant than the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project. Launched by MIT professor Nicholas Negroponte in 2003, OLPC was designed to lead children around the world to an advanced education using the combination of information technology and freedom. The project aimed to produce low-cost devices (starting with one called the XO) so that millions of children could have access to them, and free software, so they would have the critical freedoms to explore and share their software.

Then under pressure from Microsoft, Negroponte backed the project away from its commitment to freedom and announced that the machine would also be a platform for running the nonfree Windows XP operating system.

Microsoft is not the only threat to education — Adobe and Apple are both firmly placed in education, even on Windows. Adobe's proprietary Flash and Shockwave players and Apple's QuickTime and iTunes are widely used by educational software.

Microsoft is now targeting governments who are purchasing XOs, in an attempt to get them to replace the free software with Windows. It remains to be seen to what degree Microsoft will succeed. But with all of this pressure, Microsoft has harmed a project that has distributed more than 1 million laptops running free software, and has taken aim at the low-cost platform as a way to make poor children around the world dependent on its products. The OLPC threatens to become another example of the way Microsoft convinces governments around the world that an education involving computers must be synonymous with an education using Windows. In order to prevent this, it is vital that we work to raise global awareness of the harm Microsoft's involvement does to our children's education. A great way to do this is by downloading Sugar and helping a child in your local area experience free software.

Have you ever come accross these type of statements. I had one today.

I posted a Blog " Cute Face " and my sister wrote a comment that

" Did you get her permission to a)take the snap b)post it on the net? "

I replied " Did'nt got a Chance "

On this she replied " So if some guy who is a stranger to you and your sister, takes and posts her pics on his blog without her permission , you wouldn't mind at all? "

" Yes i Wont Mind. In the Pic above i never posted anything vulgar about the girl nor abusive. Moreover.. If this pic would have been taken by TOI and posted in the newspaper with the same tag-line it would have been a diffrent scene, but this is a Blog. Everyday more then 100 people look at my sister like I do at others. Neither they will stop nor I can

I wonder how i would feel bad if someone called my sister Cute. "

I have seen many brothers being very protective for their Sisters, Girlfriends. If someone calls them Cute or hot then they feel very bad and are even ready for a fight.

I have a question Here. " When You go out in the big bad world out there u look at 100's of girls and call them cute, hot and many more words.. Then you dont think that they are someone's sister or Girlfriend.. So why to get annoyed if someone else calls your Sister or Girlfriend "

Seriously, I would not mind if someone called my sister cute/ hot/ sexy etc..

Reason Being

#1 If she is i cant help it and in india everybody has a Right of Speech.

#2 If i dont want her to be called those words i should first stop her from going out of house & stop calling looking & calling other girls those words ( Looking cos u dont always speak )

I never eve-tease anyone nor pass any pro-fain comments as that is a crime as per IPC ( Indian Penal Code )

I Strongly Agree that if someone does that to your Sister, Girlfriend or any one Sack them. I respect Every girl.

You cannot change how the world looks at your loved ones & If they look... Dont go Mad.
